     Puppies from KJROX are cared for with pride and love. Moms are bred after 2 years of age to one of our handsome boys.  After moms are bred, they are kept inside in our kitchen to get used to the whelping box, new puppy food and to ensure proper nutrition   and   pre-natal care for the entire 9 weeks of pregnancy. During the last week of pregnancy, the mom is given 1 serving a day of puppy milk formula to help ensure mom has proper milk development. Also, I sleep on a cot next to mom to be sure I am there when she needs me. I love my dogs and always want to be available when my dogs need me. We spend a lot of time handling the pups and introducing new things to them.  They are confident and healthy physically and mentally.
     Pups are born and kept in a whelping box with mom in our kitchen to ensure proper nutrition and care for the pups and mom. I keep the pups and mom close to the family to help socialize the new puppies.  During weaning I make special home cooked meals with beef and gravy.  This helps the pups make the transition from milk to solid food.  They are weaned to the beef and gravy, mixed with a high quality, all natural, lamb and rice based dry puppy food. All our puppies get their tails and dew claws done. Our puppies are kept up to date with regular wormings and with puppy shots starting at 6 weeks and ending at 12 weeks of age. We keep puppies nails trimmed, and start flea treatments at 8 weeks.

     We feed our mom and pups   Diamond Naturals – Large Breed Puppy formula, it is an all natural, lamb and rice based puppy food.   We strongly recommend that you check out the “Diamond Naturals” line of dog foods. We have been using this consistently and like the results we get from this all natural dog food.  For the other adult dogs, we feed them Diamond Naturals – Lamb Meal and Rice formula.  It provides excellent nutrition, with no fillers or artificial products.   Our dog’s coats are shiny and healthy, and we find they eat less of the high quality Diamond Naturals food than the cheap dog foods.  Our dogs LOVE IT and they look GREAT. The other wonderful thing about Diamond Naturals is that it is affordable.  Almost half the cost of Eukanuba or Science Diet, and we feel it is equal in quality.  Remember to check out Diamond Naturals.

            After much thought we have decided to crop ears unless you request to do it.  However In most situations we feel it is best if you find a Vet in your area to do the ear cropping.  Having your own vet will allow better follow up care for your ear cropping; most vets will also re-rack your ear cropping for free.  Ear cropping is a delicate cosmetic surgery that requires proper cleaning, patience and follow-up by a vet.  This is all much simpler to provide if you choose a local vet for your ear cropping that will also help you choose the type of cropping to achieve the look you desire.  If for some reason you can not find a local vet to perform the procedure, then please contact us and we can have our vet perform the procedure.  We will help coach you through the follow up care.   Personally we have chosen not to crop any of our future females ears, we like the softer look of the natural ears on our females.  I still believe and like the traditional butterfly ear cropping for our males.  We think males should always be cropped; it makes them look more masculine and more suited for personal and family protection.

      The toys we use with our dogs are rawhide chips, tennis balls, and rope toys.   If you don’t like the rawhide chew chips, I have found that they like to chew up raw carrots.  This is a OUT SIDE toy. I gave it to my own dog inside once not thinking….lets just say it was not pretty, lol, orange specks through out our carpet.  We try to encourage fetch and coming to a whistle sound.  I also take pups on walks off leash around our property, and an occasional swim in the neighbor’s pond.  We have found that if you start by walking a pup off leash, from a very early age, they learn to follow you.  When they are young they will follow you for protection and bond with you easier.  Later in life they are less likely to run away if you teach them to stay close when they are young.  We recommend that you find safe places to walk your new puppy off leash.  Look for local dog parks, open fields and isolated areas to practice off leash behavior. Our own adult dogs have been trained this way and when the get out of their yards or kennels they always stay near off leash and come to us when called.

     Our breeding goal here is to create great family pets for any family life style that is a good representation of the breed standard.  Our family dogs have excellent bloodlines as well and have the potential to perform in many extra activities from agility, obedience, tracking, and even personal protection with the right training and handling.

     This is our home, and I am fortunate to stay home and take care of our home and animals. Our dogs are our children, and each one has their own personality.  We encourage that personality to shine in each and every dog.
